The chain attaches via split rings at each connection point — the same mechanism as a keyring. You can unclip it before washing and reattach it after, which is the recommended approach to prevent the chain snagging other items in the drum. If you prefer to leave it on, use a mesh laundry bag and cold wash on a gentle cycle. The chain is metal-plated zinc alloy — it won't rust, but repeated exposure to hot water and machine drying will gradually dull the finish.

Remove the chain at the split ring connection points before washing — it unclips without tools and reattaches in seconds. This protects both the chain (which can dull from hot water exposure) and other garments in the wash (the chain can snag delicate fabrics). Cold machine wash on a gentle cycle with the pants turned inside-out. If you forget to remove the chain, put the pants in a mesh laundry bag before washing — it contains the hardware and prevents snagging.

Wide leg works for petite frames when the length is right — the hem needs to reach the top of the foot for the silhouette to elongate rather than cut the leg. At 5'2" with flat shoes this typically means hemming 4–6cm off the bottom. With a 5–7cm heel the same pants work without alteration. The other essential: a fitted or cropped top tucked in. Wearing a long or oversized top with wide leg pants shortens the torso and makes a petite frame look boxier.

These are well-suited to pear and hourglass shapes. Size to your hip measurement: the hip and thigh fit is fixed, the waist can be adjusted with a belt or taken in slightly if needed. For a pear shape, the most common issue with non-stretch bottoms is the gap at the back waistband when the hips are larger relative to the waist — a belt solves this quickly. The key measurement to get right is the thigh circumference, not the waist: if the thigh fits comfortably, the rest of the sizing logic follows.
